Back to collage and #mailart

MailArt postcard – linen canvas, drafting tissue, thesaurus, paper

Yes! I’ve been getting out my collage supplies again, including a 1947 Thesaurus that I picked up at a used bookstore solely for the purpose of cutting it up.

I was inspired by our political environment and wanting to say my piece. I am hosting monthly postcard making/writing workshops for this purpose.

If you want to make your own postcards, here are the USPS First Class sizes and postage rates.

  • Regular: maximum size 6″ x 4.25″ and .16″ thick for a rate of 34 cents.
  • Large: maximum size 11.5″ x 6.275″ and .25″ thick for a rate of 49 cents.

Mail them to your elected representatives, or maybe just your friends and relatives, or even a random stranger! Mailart can be for any purpose. I’ve gotten a lot of enjoyment out of participating in mailart exchanges. It’s fun to put art out into the world with no idea what state it will really arrive in. The wear and tear, added barcodes, etc. are all part of the process.
